Since the 1970s, Bhagat has been a prominent voice in anti-caste, Ambedkarite, and leftist movements. He partook in several notable struggles in the following decades. Bhagat’s searing poetry and powerful musical style have set new standards in the rebellious music traditions of India. His voice and compositions were also featured in Chaitanya Tamhane’s internationally acclaimed 2014 film ‘Court’.
